    History

The historical backdrop of Agate generation links back to German town of Idar-Oberstein, which has developed to be known as a vital gemstone centre. Agates and Jasper were found in the Idar-Oberstein area, and cut and cleaned by neighbourhood artisans. When large deposits of agate were found in Rio Grande do Sul, in 1800s, it was shipped to Germany for getting cut and cleaned. The nearby Agate cutters of Idar-Oberstein were appropriate for this work due to their skills and excellent craftsmanship. This is why Idar-Oberstein is important in terms of agate refinement. Agate can be found almost everywhere in the world. It is commonly available and yet equally demanded because of its beautiful unusual color bands and buttery appearance.

    Bit misleading

The pieces you get aren’t exactly what you expect and some of them have cracks or dents in which haven’t been tumbled. Nice selection of crystals though and good packaging

Hi Lalitah, thank you for your feedback it is much appreciated! Tumble stones can be difficult as they are commercial grade of the industry and are not hand-polished because they are done through machinery, due to the natural formations of the roughs its not always possible to completely smooth all of them out and they will show natural indentations and markings, which we do state in the description. However if there is a significant damage or breakage please do get in touch with us we would be happy to see what we can do for you. We also do not use any glue or harsh chemicals in our tumble stones, this is what usually makes them very smooth too :)
