Everything you need to know about Rose quartz.
Rose quartz is a macrocrystalline variety of the mineral Quartz (SiO2). Quartz is the most abundant single mineral on earth. It makes up about 12% of the earth's crust, occurring in a wide variety of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. This type of quartz exhibits a pale pink to rose red hue. The colour is usually considered as due to trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese, in the material. Additionally, there is a rare type of pink quartz (also frequently called crystalline rose quartz) with colour that is thought to be caused by trace amounts of phosphate or aluminium. Rose quartz typically is a Hexagonal-Rhombohedral formation and has a hardness of 7 on the MOHs scale.
Rose quartz is often found in Brazil, Madagascar and India. Rose quartz has another crystalline structure also known as Rose Quartz cluster, Pink quartz or Crystallised rose quartz. Although these are hard to come-by they are small, delicate and beautiful if you do own a piece.
